I saw this idea on Overstuff Life (click here to see that post) that I thought might be good to try in my own home. My boys are usually really good about doing their work before play and are generally very responsible. But one thing that drives me crazy is when they complain! They have so many wonderful things, but often they only focus on what they don’t have.
On Overstuffed Life, she created a Gratitude Journal that her children write in. I loved the idea, but keeping track of a journal seemed like more than I wanted to manage, so I tweaked it a little bit to fit my needs.
I decided to create a simple paper so that I could have some printouts to keep in my kitchen (where it seems a lot of tantrums break out) and then if the boys needed a reminder of all they have to be grateful for, I’ll just send them to their room with a sheet and they can return to the kitchen after they have calmed down.
After explaining to them how this new system was going to work, I didn’t have to wait very long to implement it!
We have only just started, so I am not sure how it will work long term, but I figure you can’t go wrong remembering everything you have to be grateful for!
