I have two versions of today’s creative DIY gift. I have one that is simplified down to the basics but is still a lot of fun. The second version is a little more substantial.
Let’s start with the smaller gift.
This gift includes two super fun additions to anyone’s hot chocolate – lots of mini marshmallows and 4 metal spoon straws. These spoon straws are so fun – they make stirring your hot chocolate and sipping it so fun. The best part? Just throw the straws into the dishwasher!
The straws are from Amazon. Link for the straws here. I purchase the marshmallows in a big bag and then put a smaller amount in a little cellophane bag for this gift. Link for the marshmallows here.
Making the cup card is simple with a few craft supplies:
Take a disposable hot cup and cut it in half.
Next, take a piece of cardstock and fold it in half. Glue it shut so you have a double-thickness card.
Glue on a piece of decorative paper (scrapbook or wrapping paper) that coordinates with your cup.
You can also decorate the cup with pieces of scrapbook paper, wrapping paper, or even washi tape.
Once the cup is decorated to your liking, attach the cup to the card with hot glue.
At this point, you can fill your cup with all of your hot chocolate fixings!
Now for the second version.
This one uses the same metal spoon straws and marshmallows, but includes the addition of some mugs and flavoring syrups (in the 5.07 oz size)
The flavoring syrups I chose are Raspberry and Hazelnut. Other good choices would be peppermint or caramel. You can purchase the mini size at World Market in their sample size area. World Market also sells a collection of trial size bottles (very tiny) which would also be a great choice. Link here.
I placed them in a wire basket (from Walmart) and put a plaid napkin as a liner. You could gift it just like this or wrap the entire thing in cellophane with a big ribbon.
