I am going to be sharing some creative DIY gifts that are guaranteed to be a big hit!
Today’s post is for creating a DIY Road Tape Kit – perfect for anyone on your gift list who loves playing with cars and trucks.
I found the cutest lunch box on Amazon that features construction vehicles. Click here for the link. When I purchased it, it was $7.99, but you know how Amazon’s prices change daily, so it may be more or less than that now.
You can purchase Road Tape with printed lines on it already, but it will cost you at least $10 for a roll, and the rolls are usually only 30 feet. Instead, I used black gaffers tape (this is tape specifically made to stick to all floor types without leaving any residue) that was less expensive and three times as much (30 yards instead of feet). You can also purchase black electrical tape, which is also very affordable and leaves no residue.
Whatever you choose, you will want to order tape that is at least 3 inches wide. Here is a link to the gaffers tape (cheaper if you buy the two-pack) and the link to the electrical tape which is even less expensive.
The electrical tape will require scissors to cut while the gaffers tape can be torn like duct tape. Although, my kids struggled with tearing the gaffers tape and used scissors to cut it anyway.
Because this tape has no markings, I included two sticks of chalk. You can purchase an entire box of chalk at the Dollar Store.
And lastly, I would include a couple of hot wheels cars!
My kids absolutely love to play with the road tape. They get really creative and will put blocks under the tape to create hills and sometimes put the tape through a soda box to create tunnels.
I’d love to know if you try this gift idea!
