titleAfter throwing away too many bananas because my children didn’t eat them in their lunch because “it got all squishy and gross,”  I decided I needed to come up with a solution.

It turns out that they make banana cases, and you can buy them on Amazon.  But I worried that the curve of the banana case might not always fit every banana.  And the bananas that I buy at Costco always seem a lot bigger than the average banana.  Would those cases fit Costco-sized bananas?  Who knew there were so many deep questions about banana storage?

In the end, I just couldn’t bring myself to buy a banana case.

So, one morning as I was preparing my son’s lunch, I had an epiphany!  I quickly cut off the top of a water bottle, wrapped the banana in a paper towel for “cushioning” and placed it in his lunch bag.

When he got home from school, I couldn’t wait to ask him how the banana holder worked – and (dramatic pause) – SUCCESS!!  I just leave the holder in his lunch bag and re-fill it every day.  No more wasted, squishy bananas!
